A Freewrite

let's book up out of here
where the air is breezy
and the white sand caresses our feet
let's get up out of here
say "adios" to that hourglass
that keeps us strapped
to the never-ending beat
of time

let's book up out of here
drift on ocean's waves
watch the sun set while sipping pina coladas
let the turquoise waters creep pass
our ankles

let's get away from here...
let's run away from here...
knee deep into nowhere
until we find ourselves

Beautiful Music Makes It So Much Better...

The Week In Five

This week was:

Challenging

Long

A series of slashes on my calender--work, slash, work, slash, work, slash.  Like, what DAY is it for real. Out of 7 I will work 6.

A blessing in that I'm alive and all in my immediate circle are fine except hubby who has a broken wrist.

I joined a gym.

Have a great weekend everyone

Time (A Freewrite)

Tic toc tic
can't change it,
speed it up,
slow it down
time's been around
for eons

hard to wrap one's mind
on
time

Can't speed it up
or slow it down
no gravity
keeps it grounded
It don't stick around
for you or me
or those before us
just got to use it
while you've still got it

'cause as sure as
you think you own it,
it's gone

And Sometimes I Think...

Mar. 22nd, 2012

Carpe D & Seize

This week has been all about living in the moment, and I've thoroughly enjoyed it:-)

I:

Sat outside and took in some sun--even though I'm not supposed to have any and I cleaned out the car while doing it.

Stood in the  middle of the road (Because I can do that.  I live on a dead end) and spread my arms wide like Kate did in that movie Titanic.  The gusty winds of March flew through my fingers and made me smile.

Spent time with Thing 1 & 2.  Real, tuned in time.  In fact, Thing 2 read to me (twice), and then we played baby.  After that, I became sitter to Poo-Poo and placed in charge of feeding  her imaginary milk from a mini, toy-size, ketchup bottle. ????????????

Slept.  The real kind--without tornados or abductors.

What was your week about?

JUST DANCE

Just dance
doesn't have to be a tune
we know

Just dance
this is yours
you run the show

Just dance
can you loosen up,
be silly

No?

If you can't laugh
at yourself
then I don't know

In this life
you've got to
keep on movin', keep on groovin'

Even when you trip
over your own
two feet

Pick it up
take it from the top
1,2,3

It's your dance, baby
shuffle those feet

Sorry, Stephen, I'm Backwards

This month's book club pick is Stephen King's 11-22-63.  If you've seen or read it you know how many pages that is.  If you haven't, I'll tell you.  The book is huge!  But it is Mr. King; therefore, the writing is intriguing enough to hold one's interest for the considerable length of time it takes to complete.

Never one to handle suspense, I had to know what was up with Al, the pantry, why he had aged so quickly.  Did he go back in time or forward?  What time period is he in when he rallies Mr. E?  Does all that back and forth take it's toll somehow, thus explaining why Al's suddenly frail and old?  Let's just say I made it to page 22...or 25, I can't remember.

Fast forwarding to page seven hundred. I need answers!

Okay, I got them.  Gosh he's good.

Moving right along to page seven hundred and twenty-two.  But I don't want to spoil the end!

So I do what I always do--same thing I did when reading The Runaway Quilt, and The Help, and nearly every Oprah magazine.  Here's the method:  Front (Just enough to get a feel for the characters, setting, and suspense), End (Because I'm impatient and a curious soul, and must know what the world is going on before reading x amount of pages.), Middle (To understand the end of course), and then the rest of the beginning.

Confusing?  Not really.

If Pictures Were A Thousand Words/Dreams-n-Themes Part III

as you can see, I like windows.  in fact, 90% of my dreams consist of them.  here's how it goes: i have to find a window, but not just any old square of glass, it has to face the sun.  then there's the struggle of opening it. and finally, i fly out. then, i have to concentrate. hard. because if I don't, the thing after me grabs hold and pulls me back down.  if i focus, i'm able to fly higher, and higher, until i'm out of the unpleasant thing's grasp. but, as you can see, there's no such sun in this photo. only a window. sometimes, you just have to sit in the dark room and think your way out.
